DISCOVERY / Jewellery & Sculptural Form
A ring that turns with the hand.
Vhernier’s Tourbillon sets warm rose gold against dark titanium. Its strongest argument is a form designed around the hand, not the amount of precious metal it contains.
Published 21 October 2026 · WHV · Public-source editorial note
A broad sweep of rose gold meets a dark titanium surface, and the ring seems to turn rather than simply encircle. Vhernier’s Tourbillon is interesting before a gemstone enters the conversation. Its effect comes from volume, contrast and the angle at which it sits on the hand.
The hand completes the shape
The maker describes a bias-cut form intended to follow the hand’s direction. The current rose-gold and titanium reference specifies 18-carat gold, while the 2026 Japanese press presentation illustrates the Tourbillon Midi. That presentation is evidence of continuing availability and attention, not a claim that the design was invented in 2026. The name here belongs to jewellery, not a watch mechanism.
The WHV distinction is between material price and designed experience. Titanium is not a lesser stand-in for more gold when its colour and surface are essential to the composition. Equally, a striking design does not make its retail premium recoverable. The question is whether the object remains compelling and comfortable through actual wear, beyond the first encounter in a display case.
Try the volume, not just the size
Try the correct size and version while moving your fingers and closing your hand. Ask the maker about surface care, resizing possibilities and repair assessment for the mixed-metal construction. Do not assume an ordinary local resizing process is suitable. For a second-hand example, establish identity and condition before paying for a story. This is a case for sculptural intelligence at an intimate scale, not a bullion substitute.
