When steel belongs in the jewel.
Bulgari’s 2026 Tubogas Gold & Steel makes an industrial construction idea visible on the body. The flexible coil matters as much as the gold.
Published 21 October 2026 · WHV · Public-source editorial note
Tubogas takes its name and structural idea from a surprisingly ordinary world: flexible gas tubing. In Bulgari’s jewellery, the coiled form becomes something worn against the body. The 2026 Gold & Steel necklaces and bracelets bring that industrial ancestry closer to the surface rather than disguising it beneath precious material.
Construction becomes the ornament
The house’s April presentation describes flexible stainless-steel coils accented with yellow-gold studs, drawing on a Tubogas construction developed without soldering. The resulting rhythm is not an applied pattern on a conventional chain. It belongs to how the object is formed and moves. These pieces are distinct from the B.zero1 rings and Serpenti watches that also appear in the wider brand vocabulary.
This is a useful way to look at jewellery beyond gemstone hierarchy. Steel can be integral to the idea rather than a compromise that needs apologising for. The design’s continuity comes from a recognisable technique capable of further interpretation. That still leaves the retail premium to be judged as a design purchase, not as a calculation of recoverable gold weight.
Judge the coil as well as the surface
Try the exact necklace or bracelet, paying attention to flexibility, fit, edges and how it rests during movement. Ask about care and specialist assessment if a coil is distorted. For older pieces, repairs and polishing can change the intended appearance. The current collection provides a concrete point of comparison, but neither a celebrated name nor a new launch establishes future resale demand.
