The return of the hum.
Accutron’s Spaceview 314 brings tuning-fork timekeeping back into a current watch. The attraction is an unusual way of keeping time, not a claim to beat every quartz movement.
Published 27 October 2026 · WHV · Public-source editorial note
Not every interesting watch needs a balance wheel. The Spaceview 314 returns to Accutron’s tuning-fork idea: an electrically driven fork vibrating at 360 hertz, with a characteristic hum and a smoothly moving seconds hand. It is an alternative chapter in watchmaking, brought back into the present.
A different beat
The current 26A211 reference houses the Y230 movement in a 39-millimetre steel case. Accutron specifies contemporary materials including silicon and Elinvar, and rates accuracy within two seconds per day. Those are manufacturer specifications, not our own timing results. The archival Spaceview pictured here belongs to the earlier tuning-fork era and does not show this new movement.
The enduring interest is the mechanism’s distinct identity. It makes room for curiosity beyond the familiar contest between mechanical prestige and quartz accuracy. Seeing and hearing another engineering approach can be enough reason to explore a watch. Revival does not make an old technology universally superior, and the new product should not be confused with Accutron’s separate electrostatic designs.
Identify which Spaceview you mean
Try the exact reference and ask the authorised service route about battery replacement, movement servicing and warranty coverage in your country. The 26A211 is rated splash resistant, not offered here as a swimming watch. A vintage Spaceview brings different questions about originality, parts and specialist repair. Neither the historical story nor the return of the tuning fork establishes future collectability or a dependable resale floor.

The archival photograph is a vintage Spaceview, not the Spaceview 314. The current Y230 tuning-fork movement is not a mechanical balance movement or Accutron’s electrostatic system. No accuracy test or financial forecast is claimed.
