Technogym Kinesis Personal, where a home gym begins.

Antonio Citterio and Technogym make a wall-based cable system whose value depends on the space around it.

The published exhibition photograph shows the Kinesis Personal and the floor space in front of it.

Look at the wall before looking at the machine. Kinesis Personal puts four cable stations into a narrow vertical frame, with a mirrored finish among the documented options. That makes the equipment visually discreet, but the movement still takes place in the room.

Citterio’s studio presents the equipment as part of the interior. Use that idea in practical terms. Mark the floor area you need in front and beside the unit, and try the movements you want to repeat. Check where furniture, doors and other people will be.

Before ordering, confirm the installation requirements, the particular finish and local service. Ask what happens when cables or moving parts need inspection or replacement. The ability to fit the equipment into a room is useful only if you will be able to use it there.
