Raasay Na Sia, what six cask recipes mean.
Raasay’s unpeated seven-year Bordeaux bottling offers a clear way into the distillery’s six-part approach to maturation.

The same name appears across bottles that can tell quite different stories. At Raasay, Na Sia groups peated and unpeated spirit with three cask types. One of the 2026 Seven Years Evolved bottlings uses unpeated spirit in a former Bordeaux red wine cask. It gives a drinker a particular combination to identify before attempting a comparison.
The distillery sets out the alternatives. Alongside the Bordeaux casks are virgin Chinkapin oak and casks that previously held American rye whiskey. Tasting across those choices can make the decisions easier to notice. Each bottling also belongs to an individual cask, so differences between releases can involve more than the category printed in large type.
Read the age, cask number and peated or unpeated designation on the label. If you are exploring the range, start with one comparison you can actually make, such as peated and unpeated spirit from the same kind of cask. The value lies in learning what the choices do in the glass.
