DISCOVERY / Whisky & Cask Selection
Nc’nean Quiet Rebels Matthew, read the Manzanilla cask.
Nc’nean’s sixth Quiet Rebels release offers a clear look at what one kind of sherry cask contributes to a blend.

Matthew, a blender at Nc’nean, built the release around Manzanilla hogsheads seasoned in Jerez. The Scotch whisky was bottled in August 2026. The distillery publishes the proportions: 47 percent Manzanilla cask, 51 percent bourbon cask and 2 percent Oloroso.
Those proportions make a useful map of the blending decision. Manzanilla has a prominent place in the story while bourbon casks make up the larger share. Put the whisky beside a bourbon-cask-led expression and spend time with both. Changes in the glass give the cask description something concrete to answer to.
If you want to try it, identify the Matthew bottling by name. Nc’nean lists its own delivery as UK-only and directs international customers to distribution partners. A local tasting or sample can be a more useful first step than chasing a sealed bottle.
