A cabinet that opens like a trunk.
Poltrona Frau’s Isidoro Ultime Notizie combines a drinks cabinet with the opening gesture of luggage. Fornasetti’s newspaper-and-butterfly imagery adds a second transformation, making leather resemble paper.

Closed, Isidoro reads as a substantial trunk. Open, it becomes a small stage for bottles, glasses and the act of serving. Jean-Marie Massaud’s drinks cabinet borrows the logic of luggage without requiring the object to travel. The movement from closed volume to organised interior is part of its purpose.
Opening becomes part of the furniture
In the Ultime Notizie version, Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti introduce another borrowed language. The wooden construction is covered in printed Pelle Frau leather, with shelves, drawers and bottle storage inside. Newspaper fragments and butterflies belong to a pattern created by Piero Fornasetti in 1950 and reworked through the continuing atelier.
The material joke is precise. Leather looks like paper, while the archival design was originally conceived for printing on silk. What appears to be a simple decorative collaboration becomes a movement between surfaces and uses. The capsule appeared in the maker’s 2025 presentation and reached the documented Japanese retail introduction in March 2026. Those are different dates, not competing claims to an entirely new invention.
An archive is useful when it changes something
Consider the open footprint, hinges, access and intended contents before treating it as a sculptural box. Ask about the printed leather’s care and the service route for the actual cabinet. The supplied composite shows open and closed views together, not several cabinets included in an offer. Its value lies in an intelligible piece of furniture with a distinct visual idea, rather than a logo pairing or a promise that an archival motif must rise in price.
