DISCOVERY / Electric Boats & Integrated Design
The hull follows the drive.
Frauscher’s 790 Spectre uses Porsche electric-drive technology, but the more interesting move is a hull developed around the system rather than a badge added afterwards.

A carmaker’s name on a boat can be little more than a styling exercise. The Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre asks a more substantial question: what happens when a hull is developed around an electric drive system rather than treating that system as an addition to an existing boat?
Integration is more interesting than branding
Presented in January 2026, the model uses technology from the electric Porsche Macan, including its high-voltage battery and propulsion components. Porsche describes a newly developed hull that is lighter, shorter and narrower than the earlier collaboration. The boat’s identity should therefore not be collapsed into the previous 850 Fantom Air, or into the Macan Turbo Concept Lago displayed alongside it.
The value worth investigating is the relationship between the parts. An electric dayboat has to bring hull efficiency, weight, battery capacity and intended use into agreement. Peak power alone explains very little about a useful day on the water. Manufacturer range figures at different speeds describe different operating conditions, not a distance available at any pace the owner chooses.
Begin with the water you actually use
Start an enquiry with your expected route, passenger load, local conditions and realistic charging access. Ask for an appropriate demonstration, service arrangements and the relevant warranty terms. The maker offers a direct route to discussing the model, but a launch photograph is not a sea trial. This is a promising instance of integrated design whose practical value must be established in the setting where it will actually be used.
