Ducati Desmo450 MX, a different kind of Ducati.
The marque takes its desmodromic valve gear into a production motocross motorcycle.

The Desmo450 MX is easiest to understand with the plastics off. Its connection to Ducati’s road motorcycles is an engineering choice: the desmodromic system mechanically controls the closing of the valves. Putting that idea into a motocross single asks it to work in an entirely different environment.
Ducati began production in 2025 and distributed the motorcycle through selected dealers. A competition machine makes the dealer’s off-road experience a practical consideration. What matters after a muddy day is the route to consumables, service and a mechanic familiar with the model.
Compare a specific bike’s hours and maintenance record with the manufacturer schedule. Decide whether the engine response, suspension and ergonomics suit your experience on a real circuit. The appeal is a serious new branch of Ducati design that a rider can explore on its intended ground.
