The desk may be in a bedroom, beside a window or at the edge of a living room. The chair remains there after the work is finished. Naoto Fukasawa’s Asari for Herman Miller takes that everyday visibility seriously, giving a task chair a soft, continuous outline.

A soft outline with a working mechanism

Introduced in 2023, Asari is offered in high- and mid-back forms. Herman Miller describes a self-adjusting synchronous tilt and its PostureFit lower-back support within the upholstered construction. The shell-like back gives the chair its name and recognisable silhouette without exposing every mechanism.

Its value proposition is unusually relatable. An object used for hours should deserve its place both physically and visually. Asari treats the working chair as part of the home’s furniture, with upholstery and silhouette contributing to the room even when the desk is empty.

Try it at your desk

Sit in the intended version for more than a brief showroom impression. Check arm position, working height, recline and clearance beneath your desk. Compare upholstery care, available adjustments and the regional warranty. The useful test is whether the whole arrangement works through an ordinary working day.
