ARCH KRGT-1, fitted to its rider.

The interesting part of an ARCH commission is the relationship between a rider and a machine built around a particular brief.

A motorcycle is unusually intimate machinery. Hand position, reach and the distance to the controls shape the experience long before the road opens up. The KRGT-1 makes that relationship a central part of the appeal of commissioning an ARCH.

A machine and an owner

The manufacturer describes a performance cruiser built around an ARCH/S&S V-twin, with machined aluminium components and a bespoke ownership process. Its ownership information includes factory service or coordination with an approved service provider. Those details are more useful than treating a famous co-founder as a reason to buy.

The value lies in an object made to suit a specific rider and used as intended. Finish, component design and personal fit can matter deeply without translating into recoverable commissioning costs. A highly individual specification may be attractive to its owner while narrowing the audience for a later sale.

Specify the support as well as the finish

Discuss the riding position, intended roads, registration requirements and service arrangements before commissioning. Confirm what is included in the quotation and where the machine will be supported. The test is whether the resulting motorcycle fits your riding life, not whether its specification is sufficiently unusual.
