DISCOVERY / Factory Remastering

A Classic Defender, reconsidered by its maker.

Land Rover Classic’s Works Bespoke programme offers a new chapter for an original Defender. Knowing what has changed is part of the appeal.

The original Defender’s outline can carry a great deal of memory. Works Bespoke starts with that familiarity and asks how much of the ownership experience should change. The result is a different proposition from buying either a new-generation Defender or a preserved older example.

A remastered vehicle is its own category

Land Rover Classic describes vehicles remastered by hand to an individual specification and fitted with a 5.0-litre petrol V8. The programme offers choices of body style, finish and interior. The photographed vehicles represent programme configurations, not an inventory of individually inspected cars available to buy.

The value is a documented route through an otherwise complicated field of restorations and conversions. Factory involvement gives the process a clear source to investigate. It does not mean that every personalisation cost will be recovered or that a remastered car has the historical status of an original-condition example.

Follow the documentation

Obtain the donor and build documentation, full specification, warranty and service terms. Clarify regional registration and emissions requirements before committing. Compare the finished proposition with both a carefully restored original and a contemporary vehicle suited to the same use. Each solves a different problem.
