Christie’s September Edit runs online from 8 to 18 September, with a New York exhibition through 13 September. Its announced selection moves between recent Hermès designs and vintage Louis Vuitton luggage.

Two examples invite different kinds of attention: a 2026 Étoupe Swift leather Kelly Pochette, and 1950s wardrobe trunks catalogued as made for William A. M. Burden Jr. One begins with proportion and material; the other adds an identifiable chapter of travel and ownership.

The WHV reading starts with the individual piece. Look at the condition report, included accessories and evidence behind its history before reaching for comparisons. A familiar silhouette can conceal important differences.
