Takuro Kuwata refuses a quiet surface.
Untitled TK597 makes porcelain, glaze and precious-metal accents into a deliberately restless sculptural surface.

From a distance, Untitled TK597 reads as a single upright form. Closer inspection breaks that simplicity apart. Its surface is interrupted by texture, colour and metallic accents that refuse to settle into a uniform skin.
A surface full of events
Salon 94 identifies the work as a 2021 sculpture by Takuro Kuwata, made from porcelain, glaze, pigment, gold, platinum and lacquer. At approximately 129 cm high, its scale turns the encounter into something physical. The viewer can move around the form and watch its surface change.
The interest lies in the tension between a coherent shape and a surface full of events. Colour gathers near the base while pale texture rises above it. Metallic accents introduce another kind of light. These materials matter as parts of a composition, with the ceramic surface carrying the complexity of the work.
Distinguish intention from damage
Ask the gallery about the exact work’s availability, condition and handling requirements. Distinguish intended surface effects from subsequent damage through documentation and specialist assessment. Installation, transport and insurance need to reflect the actual scale and fragility of the piece.
