The car as a new composition.
Singer’s Carrera Coupe does not preserve a 911 by leaving it untouched. It makes the boundary between restoration and reinterpretation worth examining.

A recognisable silhouette can conceal a thoroughly different car. Singer’s 911 Carrera Coupe programme, announced in 2025, begins with an owner’s Type 964 Porsche and treats it as the basis for a new composition. The result is not an untouched historical specification. That distinction is essential to understanding why someone might care about it.
Restoration is not always conservation
Singer describes a strengthened original monocoque, developed with input from Red Bull Advanced Technologies, and a naturally aspirated four-litre engine developed with Cosworth. The flat-six combines air-cooled cylinders with water-cooled cylinder heads and a six-speed manual transmission. These are reported programme specifications, not findings from a WHV drive. The announced scope was 100 commissions.
The value mechanism is the integration of specialist work around a clear brief. A chassis, engine, body and cabin need to make sense together rather than functioning as a list of expensive upgrades. Equally, reimagining a car does not preserve the originality that a different collector might value. Singer is an independent business, not the Porsche factory, and the distinction belongs in the ownership history.
Understand what is being commissioned
Anyone exploring a commission should establish donor-car requirements, specification, delivery terms, registration and service responsibilities in the relevant jurisdiction. Existing completed cars require their own documentation and condition assessment. The photograph shows the Carrera Coupe at Goodwood in 2025, not the later Cabriolet. Limited production makes the programme specific. It does not, by itself, establish liquidity, a fair purchase price or a future return.
