A flower made twice.
Guerlain’s Muguet 2026 brings two kinds of interpretation together. Lily of the valley is reconstructed as a scent and made visible through Atelier Vermont’s pleated silk and embroidered flowers.

The flower appears twice. Around the neck of Guerlain’s 2026 Muguet bottle, green silk and embroidered bells interpret lily of the valley in visible form. Inside, a perfumer approaches the same subject through smell. Neither version is simply a flower preserved unchanged in another container.
Nature is a brief, not simply an ingredient
Guerlain explains that the familiar lily-of-the-valley note is reconstructed rather than extracted as a conventional natural essence. The current interpretation dates to Thierry Wasser’s work in 2016, following earlier versions. A fresh annual decoration is therefore not proof of a newly invented fragrance formula each year. That distinction makes the continuing project more interesting, not less.
For 2026, Atelier Vermont shaped silk taffeta into a green ribbon using folded, heat-set construction described through shibori, then added hand-embroidered lace flowers and crystal details. The bee bottle becomes a meeting point between perfumery and couture techniques. The crafts have different material limits, but both depend on selecting what to emphasise rather than reproducing every feature of a living plant.
Separate the scent from its presentation
Approach the scent and the object separately. Where a sample is available, wear it before deciding whether the composition belongs in daily life. Ask about handling the textile decoration and protecting an opened bottle from unsuitable storage. The limited presentation may be beautiful, but its numerical scarcity does not establish a resale case. What holds value is a precise collaboration that can teach the eye and the nose to recognise two different kinds of invention.
