JamFactory, a view into a working glass studio.

In Adelaide, a viewing platform makes hot glass and coordinated handwork visible. You can leave with a better eye for the objects you buy.

A finished glass object is still. The process that made it is anything but. At JamFactory in Adelaide, the working studio gives visitors a view of heat, rotation and people moving in coordination. A shape that looks effortless in a gallery begins to look different once you have seen the timing behind it.

See the coordination behind the object

JamFactory publishes access to its glassblowing viewing platform, alongside guided tour options. This is a studio visit, not a promise that every visitor will make glass. The distinction matters. Watching a team work can be a substantial experience in itself, especially when you arrive with questions about how a particular form is achieved.

The benefit carries into collecting and everyday buying. You may start noticing the transition between a body and its foot, the balance of a vessel or the way a colour sits within the glass. Process does not automatically make an object good, but it gives you more informed reasons for liking one.

Visit a working place on its terms

Check the current production and tour schedule before travelling. Studio activity can change, and a viewing platform is not a reserved seat at a particular demonstration. Leave time for the galleries and ask staff about the makers represented. The best souvenir may be an object whose construction now makes sense, or simply a more attentive eye.
