Casa TO, a hotel organised around water.

In Puerto Escondido, Ludwig Godefroy uses a central pool to connect the spaces of a nine-suite hotel.

Rory Gardiner’s photograph shows the sequence of concrete openings and the central pool at Casa TO.

At Casa TO, a concrete opening can frame the pool, a passage and another opening in the same view. Walk a few steps and those frames line up differently. It is worth noticing the changing view before looking for a favourite photograph.

Godefroy’s plan places a long body of water through the shared spaces of the hotel in La Punta Zicatela. The pool gives the building its orientation. Its edges and steps let guests occupy the same room in different ways, from crossing it to spending time at water level.

If you consider a stay, compare the location and layout of the suites as well as the hotel’s shared spaces. The operator lists the property as adults only. Ask about step-free access if needed, and check the current terms directly with the hotel.
