Faye Toogood’s Squash, softness with a silhouette.
A rounded armchair uses its hard outline and yielding centre to make comfort visible.

The Squash armchair looks as if someone has pressed a drawing of an armchair into a softer material. The perimeter swells, and the seat appears to settle inside it. Faye Toogood gives a familiar domestic object an unmistakable outline without turning it into a prop.
Poltrona Frau’s product presentation shows how combinations of upholstery change the reading of the same form. Contrast makes the divisions legible. A closer tonal match makes the chair read as one mass. Look at the back as well as the front if it will stand away from a wall.
A generous silhouette does not tell you how easy the chair is to get out of. Sit in it for a while, try the arm height and compare leather and textile samples at home. Ask the maker how repairs or upholstery work would be handled for the exact configuration.
